Overhead Summer Plait Hair Style

Dec 2, 2010 by

With the whole new hair thing I’ve got new inspiration to start doing hair and beauty tutorials again ^_^

I’ve had a lot of requests for styles involving braids and plaits which I suppose makes sense considering that mori styles are becoming more and more popular and coming in to Summer they keep hair off the neck!

So this is one of my favorite Summer styles, mostly because it’s cool but it also looks like it took a lot more time than it actually did XD

UPDATE! Check out the free downloadable restyled version of this craft tutorial here in my gallery!

Braids Hair Tutorial

What you need:

  • Hair ties
  • Bobby pins
  • Brush
  • Hair spray
  • Flower pins or decorations

Start off by sectioning your hair into 2 even pig tails.

    • I bet your hair would be long enough now, you would just need to start the plaits up a bit higher, with your blue this could look awesome!

  24. I wear my hair like this all the time in summer. I call it my “Frida Kahlo Hairdo”. It’s so cool and if you do it right, it’s practically indiscructable

    • Ahahaha How did I not think of Frida Kahlo?! You are so right about indestructible, I’ve gone to sleep in it before and woken up picture perfect :D

  25. nami

your hair looks soooo much better without the brassy tips! the pink is cute! good tutorial :)

  26. Aw, it’s such a cute style! For years I kept wearing my hair for exams similarly – only that I pulled the braids back, instead of putting them on the top of my head. People were always amazed how could I do it (even without mirrors later, haha! :D) but it’s really easy once you get the hang of it, and it looks so pretty!! ^^
And all those years it never occured to me that I could pin the braids the other way… :D

We had a casual shot a couple of weeks ago where I was mainly to help with the hairdos but we ended up with far less models than expected, so I kind of quickly made this ‘do for myself and jumped in. They loved it! :D

  27. Toria

Thanks! I’ve been wanting to do this to my hair ever since I saw Harold and Maude. lol :)

  28. A Noisy Mouse

Woah! So gorgeous! Really good job. I feel slightly ashamed of commenting for the first time only now even though it has been years that i have been lurking around your site…Eumh…So…Say,do you mind sharing with us your hair dying secrets? Like how to do it like you do,how to keep your hair healthy and such… Because, now that i’ve seen you with your new (well,at least it seems it is) platinium blonde/pink hair…I’m so jealous. Your beautiful.

    • Thanks for commenting! That is so lovely of you to visit the site for so long, I really appreciate it :D I honestly don’t know how to explain my hair dying, I kind of just apply dye where I want it and blend it in XD Maybe I’ll just make a video and that will be easier for people to understand!
