BB Cream Review- Pure Blossom (The Face Shop)

Dec 16, 2010 by

Next on the list of BB Cream review pile is Pure Blossom Shimmering from The Face Shop.

Before I get into the review, a lot of people asked what BB Cream actually was last time. Well basically it’s cream that has been very popular in Asian countries for a while now which is generally worn underneath (or instead of) foundation. It’s supposed to be miracle cream because it evens out skin tone like a foundation but also usually has ingredients that are supposed to make your skin better and actually improve over time. This is of course debatable and results differ for everyone. The other difference to foundation (again this is debatable) is that it’s not sold in shades, the ingredients *aparently* change colour to suit your skin colour creating flawlessness no matter what tone you are.

I find that last bit to be a stretch, and while a lot of the BB Creams that suit me also suit much darker tones on my friends it’s certainly not fool proof or magic, lots of them are still too dark or too grey for me so I always suggest sampling before you buy. Personally after a year of using various creams I haven’t seen any change in my skin tone of texture but some girls swear by it. I like to use it by itself on days that I want something light and casual or under foundation as a way to keep moisturised and create absolutely flawless skin and protect from the sun (most of them have SPF ratings).

So on to the review!

Very nice. Since There’s so many BB creams out there its good to know which ones work. Have you ever tried the water BB cream? I heard it was good.

  2. Since I’m also very fair skinned, I usually can only use these shimmer cremes as opposed to foundation because I never could find a color that suits me. I guess a BB cream here would be like a primer. Personally my favorite has been the Tarina Tarantino Pearl Glow Primer from Sephora and it’s been a lifesaver for me!

    • I haven’t tried that one (we don’t have Sephora here ;_;) I’m going to have to see if I can hunt out a sample now though!

  3. I’ve never tried a BB cream before, but after reading your reviews, I might be interested in taking one for a spin. I like the dewy texture of this one.

Oh, something like this would be perfect for me! I don’t wear foundation but occasionally I’ll put on tinted moisturiser so this would be even better ^_^

    • If that’s the case then I would totally suggest checking them out, I think they are perfect as tinted moisturiser replacements because the lighter ones feel super good on!

I discovered last week that there is a shop near me that sells Asian cosmetics and skincare, and I was so excited because I’ve never really seen much of that sort of thing before. It was closed when I went past but I’m planning a trip there in the very near future. One of the things I definitely mean to check out is BB Cream!

  7. I have never seen BB cream around, but now that you have done a couple of posts I am desperate to try it! I might have to head into chinatown and have a poke around I think, I am intrigued by BB cream.

    • China town is probably the best place to start, though you’ll probably be paying inflated prices there. Maybe go test it and find one you like then buy online where it’s cheaper :D

Also, I featured you as ‘blogspiration’ on my blog, I hope this is ok?

  10. I’m scared to put BB cream or the likes because my skin is quite dark as an Asian. T_T

    • You should give it a try, there are some that are quite dark and apparently the colour adapts to your skin so you might be surprised ^_^

  11. I’ve never tried a BB cream although I’ve seen them written about lots – I didn’t think about trying the Face Shop though. I might go have a look on the weekend :)

    • They usually have a couple of different ones though the prices are higher than online, definitely worth a look!

  12. This one sounds lovely. I’m going to check out the ingredients, and if I’m happy with that side of things, I’ll give this a try. I like the sound of the consistency, and I LOVE the dewy look. Thanks Violet

    • No problems! I don’t like the chances of finding the ingredients though because it’s all in Korean :( I’ve looked around but I couldn’t hunt them. Let me know if you do find them!

thanks for the review. i don’t know which one to choose… there are so many bb cream x_X

  14. Nice review. This bb cream has been discontinued if I am not mistaken, that’s why you cannot find it anymore. You have a collector ^^

  15. XD I actually went out and bought a sample pack of BBs that had the last one your reviewed in it (which I really like!), it also had a glittery one like this in it and uuugh it was way too much for me.

I don’t fall for all the claims behind it, but I like the coverage!

  16. I was very pleased to find this web-site.I wanted to thanks for your time for this wonderful read!! I definitely enjoying every little bit of it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you blog post.
