DIY Shoe Clips

Nov 26, 2010 by

Shoe clips are awesome, they’re the perfect way to jazz up boring shoes and use up old craft materials. I am a little bit addicted to them actually XD I got a whole bunch of really over the top clip on earrings at a bead store that closed down recently so I decided to go a bit crazy!

Shoe Clip Tutorial

What you need:

  • Old clip on earrings
  • Something pretty for the clip eg. flowers, leopard print hearts etc
  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun

  5. Very cool! I’ve used shoe clips in the past but not in quite some time now. It’s a great way to get shoes to co-ordinate perfectly with an outfit :)

you could just buy the earring backs from a fabric or bead store.

  7. AH! Violet you’re genius! Perfect thing to do instead of hot glueing my bows to my shoes for this cosplay <3

very cute. I wonder if you could just buy the clip thing so you didn’t have to buy cheap earrings.

    • Yep you can buy them easily in craft store, I just happen to have a whole lot of these earrings laying around so I wanted to use them up ^_^

  11. Hahaha, you always have very amazing ideas. I never think in use some old earrings in this form. But is great for shoes, or for brooches without pin the clothes.

  13. These are sooo cute!
    I remember I had some frog shoe clips when I was younger and I used to clip them to my sneakers all the time xD I don’t know where they are now though ._____.;

But this is actually a great idea. Since I have lots and lots of clip on earrings that my mum bought when she was younger !

  14. Oh those are adorable :)
Do you have Hobbycraft in Australia? They sell earing clips in their beading isle usually, it’s probably cheapper and easier to buy plain clips :)

    • No we don’t have Hobby craft but we do have lots of craft stores that sell them individually. I had a huge amount of these old earrings though so I wanted to use them up XD

  15. Cute blog. Love the white flower clips!!

  16. Awesome! I was very curious to see what you would be using for the clips, I love the idea of using clip-on earrings! I really love both sets of clips you’ve made, the hearts are so badass and the big flowers are always awesome looking.

    • :D I so love that you describe the hearts as badass! I’ve got so many of these silly earrings that I can see many more of these in my future!

Really awesome! It motivates me to revamp my old flats for this summer^^

  18. I have tried shoe clips in the past, and found they were not for me. While the shoes do indeed look cute with the clips on, the clips rub against my feet and create sores and blisters :( I think I said this before, but I have a serious nickel allergy, and most of the things like this I just can’t do.

I hope that this will work for other, and I think they do look super adorable on your shoes.

Just a heads up, you can buy just the clip bases at craft stores (the Spotlights in my area even have some on clearance for about $1 a pack).

    • Thanks Lizy! I’ve seen them at Spotlight too, I just happened to have an excess of these earrings because I bought them for the flower part to use in deco projects ^_^

  21. omg! this is just genius and creative! <3 I am super inspired to do some shoe make overs <3

Do you have a listing of where and how you made these white flowers that you clipped to the shoes?

    • The flowers themselves are just cheap fakes bought at a store, the method is the same used in this post for the hearts :)
