Tutorial- Clutch Bag Modification

You know when you buy more expensive make up and you get those little free gift bags with them? I tend to never use the bags because I don’t generally like to carry things with labels on them. So whats the solution? Craft! Craft is aaaalways the solution XD
You need:
- Glue gun or sewing machine
- Lace
- Bow
- Clutch bag
- Ribbon

This bag came in my MBBE goodie bags and is from Guinot. It’s black with little glitter sparklies ^_^ I am not a fan of clutch bags, I think they are kind of pointless… I mean they don’t make carrying stuff any easier they just give me a hand cramp XD So glue time!
So in about 10 minutes I turned it into this:
I started with the white bow that came off one of my Bodyline shoes and added some black velvet ribbon to hide the thread.
Then I glued lace around the outside. Of course you could stitch it in place but this bag is quite thick so glue was easier.
I pleated the lace at the corners so it sat well.
Glued the little bow in place…
Then with some more velvet ribbon I added a little strap by gluing (and anchoring with a stitch) it into the inside.
Super easy! All done!
Now I have a cute evening bag which is practical and matches my outfit ^_^ Win! What do you guys do with these kinds of bags?

You so need to! You could glue a different colour ribbon to tell you whats in each bag :D
That looks super cute with the lace. I don’t tend to get a lot of bags with cosmetics and things, but when I do I use them for organization. I have a bag from some shampoo I got once, and use it to hold all of my sample size lotions.

Much cuter with the lace :D. I get free makeup bags every now and again, I use them for putting gadget cables in when I travel!

Too bad that most of my bags are in some way un-craftable :p
they have too much logo’s on them or are too plasticy looking or too small etc etc
I usually trow them away/give them to my little cousins/use them for miniatures :p

Oh it’s gorgeous! I never know what to do with these either, but thankfully I don’t buy expensive makeup. Do you think you could find a way to spruce up really ugly eco bags that they give out with everything these days? I’m at a total loss for ideas and i’ve got so many lying around :(.

This is my first one too, I remember my mum getting them when I was a kid but I can’t afford expensive make up *_*

Awww, so cute! I can’t deal w/ clutches either. I’m so worried I’d sit it down somewhere.
I have quite a collection of little bags, and I use them to hold things in my larger purses. I have separate holders for pens, makeup, even lotions and such. I do this so I can switch purses easily and it also protects the lining from getting ripped or marked up. I think I will consider embellishing some of my collection to be as cute as your creation.

I love this!! I have a pink and white leather clutch I was planning on modifying, basically just adding some bows to it. But now I wonder if I should take it a step further and add some other accents to it too. I used to bring clutches/wristlets to college parties, but now I mostly bring them for dinners out. Some I use to store random little things – one is a carrier of safety pins, for some reason.
Haha safety pins are a must have! I would love to see yours when you’re finished modifying it!
