Tutorial- Clutch Bag Modification

Nov 10, 2010 by

You know when you buy more expensive make up and you get those little free gift bags with them? I tend to never use the bags because I don’t generally like to carry things with labels on them. So whats the solution? Craft! Craft is aaaalways the solution XD

Clutch Bag Tutorial

You need:

  • Glue gun or sewing machine
  • Lace
  • Bow
  • Clutch bag
  • Ribbon

  2. I think….i need to get a glue gun^^ urs is so cute~ I usually use the bags to store travelling items, though I do get confused what is in which bag >_<"

  3. That looks super cute with the lace. I don’t tend to get a lot of bags with cosmetics and things, but when I do I use them for organization. I have a bag from some shampoo I got once, and use it to hold all of my sample size lotions.

  5. Much cuter with the lace :D. I get free makeup bags every now and again, I use them for putting gadget cables in when I travel!

  7. Oh super cute!
Too bad that most of my bags are in some way un-craftable :p
they have too much logo’s on them or are too plasticy looking or too small etc etc
I usually trow them away/give them to my little cousins/use them for miniatures :p

  10. Oh it’s gorgeous! I never know what to do with these either, but thankfully I don’t buy expensive makeup. Do you think you could find a way to spruce up really ugly eco bags that they give out with everything these days? I’m at a total loss for ideas and i’ve got so many lying around :(.

  11. Wow Violet, talk about talented. You did such a great job! And there I was, wondering what I’d do with that Guinot pouch of mine.

*ahem* Any chances of jazzing mine up? *ahem* :P

  12. It’s so refreshing to read a fashion blog whitch isn’t brand obsessed!!!
I don’t like labels so much too, I think it’s vulgar going around exibiting the brand of your outfit’s pieces.
And I truly love to craft!!! <3
I think clutches are impractical, so I don't have any. But I really appreciate your solution!
Your new clutch is really cute *_______*

    • Thanks so much for your comment Pierita Patty! I couldn’t agree with you more! I find clutches way too impractical so now it has a strap I think it will be alright assuming it’s just for dinner or something little ^_^ I’m so glad you enjoyed the post, do come back soon :D

  13. great work!! i like it a lot!! :D

  14. Ohhh it turned out so cute!! I don’t have such bags, simply because we hardly get such stuff when buying make up.

    • This is my first one too, I remember my mum getting them when I was a kid but I can’t afford expensive make up *_*

  15. so simple and cute ^^ i love it :)

  17. Awww, so cute! I can’t deal w/ clutches either. I’m so worried I’d sit it down somewhere.

I have quite a collection of little bags, and I use them to hold things in my larger purses. I have separate holders for pens, makeup, even lotions and such. I do this so I can switch purses easily and it also protects the lining from getting ripped or marked up. I think I will consider embellishing some of my collection to be as cute as your creation.

Thanks as always for the inspiration! <3

  18. Cute repurpose of that bag into a very lovely looking clutch. Nice job!

I love this!! I have a pink and white leather clutch I was planning on modifying, basically just adding some bows to it. But now I wonder if I should take it a step further and add some other accents to it too. I used to bring clutches/wristlets to college parties, but now I mostly bring them for dinners out. Some I use to store random little things – one is a carrier of safety pins, for some reason.

  20. Thats a cute clutch now!

    love it!

    Hey!

Thanks for the tutorial! I love your style and this bag is so cute!!!

This is exactly the kind of bag I was looking for, but infortunately they never give those bags in beauty stores in France, maybe in chemistry?

Bye and take care of you

    • I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial ^_^ These kinds of bags usually come as a free gift here a couple of times a year with high end brands like Estee Lauder etc. Maybe check them out? Good luck on the search!
