Snapshots and Halloween!

Nov 9, 2010 by

Time for snapshots! I found a whole heap of photos that I forgot we took so let’s start with those first then I’ll show you what we did for Halloween!

When we first came down to Melbourne we went with SuperKawaiiMama, Kruppy and Dave from Nuffnang to an American style diner called Misty’s. James was absolutely thrilled XD

  7. Super kawaii mama is fabulous! I like your hairstyle in that picture a lot. Very classy :)

Also those kitties are CUTE :D!!
& those cupcakes and macrons look delicious.. but I have to ask.. why is your nose red haha (in the picture where you are putting cute faces on the macrons)? *curious* :p

    • Thanks very much :D Haha my nose was red because originally I put blush on for a kitty nose but then James said kitties have black noses and then there was a big debate and I ended up changing it XD

  8. Aww, what an eventful October!! :>
I enjoyed reading this so much~
I wish I had celebrated Halloween, can’t really remember what I actually did that day lol!

  9. I love these photos! Those macrons are so adorable with their little faces :D I think that your costume was really cute, most people go all cliche and draw a ridiculous nose and whiskers on their face. Those poor kitties, those poor, poor adorable little fluff balls. Darn James, stop pinching people’s heads!

    Love the pictures, as usual!

  10. I don’t really think we do halloween either here in Denmark, but it’s become popular, because of the globalization, i guess. I like all the funny stuff you can get at halloween, so yay – I don’t mind. :)

It’s amazing, that chandelier made of bowls and such! It’s awesome! :)

    Hi!

Well, you know in France, we don’t have halloween either! It’s just a shame since as a new gothic lolita I’d hav loved to buy some junk to decorate my room lol… No I’m actually not really into Halloween, Except for the awesome pumkin soup ^^ (even better with sliced boiled chestnuts, give it a try)… France is totally hermetic to that American influence, for us we just go on our family’s graves, to see them and bring them some flowers, but I don’t even do that, it’s so depressing, an I’m sure my grand uncle and my grand pa know I love them so I don’t need to bring them flowers once a year to tell them so…

And, well, I wanted to tell you about the review for the brown eyeshadow, it actually really flatters you! You’re blonde that’s a nice colour that suits you, and t’s realy good when you go to do you job. Isugget you use it to draw your crease a bit, it’ll make your eyes look deeper and wider, I use it on me (I’m a brunette so maybe the effects will be different) and it’s really beautiful. But infortunately, I just wanted to tel you I’m not sure the flash photo flatters you. You look better without.

Bye, take care of you, and enjoy you brie (I’m not into that either lol)

    • Different tastes for different people ^_^ Going to relatives graves does seem much more respectful. With the brown eyeshadow, I work for myself and I’m not required to wear corporate styles so I use it on days when I need a casual look. Unfortunately because of the way my eyes are shaped I can’t add too much darkness to the crease area because it makes me look tired and sick. My eyes are already very large so I don’t think they need much help XD As for the flash there’s not much I can do about that, sometimes it’s necessary because there isn’t natural light available. I think it looks nice though, ring flashes are what professional photographers like James use for a really more even pretty effect ^_^ Thanks for your feedback!

  12. Aww, lucky James got a flashback to America! That’s so nice :) I’ve always wondered if ex-pats actually missed the US once they left it… I imagined they’d run screaming, but maybe that’s just me… :P

    • XD I think because he left when he was 10, he has a really romantic view of the US! He only really remembers the food, shopping and boy scouts… and mostly it’s just the food that the boy scouts ate hahaha! I think if he’s spent his teenage years there too he wouldn’t have liked it so much haha!

  13. Wahhh, I almost wish we’d gone!… Except that we were swanning about Sydney Chinatown having sushi train for dinner :P Next time!

  14. Hot dog chili
    1lb ground beef 80/20
    1 onion fresh diced
    1 TBS chili powder mild
    1 tsp cumin
    1/2 tsp ground coriander
1 16oz can diced tomato in sauce
    4oz can tomato paste
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 TBS cocoa powder (optional)

Brown the beef and onions in a pan. Stir constantly to keep the beef partials small. Drain. Add rest of ingredients. Cook until the consistency reaches a nice thick sauce.

  15. We DO celebrate Halloween you know! At least the goth community does!! I don’t know about the trick-or-treating part cos I don’t have kids but that dies happen too, a little bit. But we have a big festival every year here in Sydney for Halloween called Under the Blue Moon, which showcases spooky/gothic clothing, music, performances, art etc. They also have gothic Halloween balls in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Adelaide.

“American Style” haha, that’s something I never encountered. In America, at least my childhood experience, we like to go on and on about how “America doesn’t have a culture” and “American culture is the culture of all countries combined, since everyone here is originally immigrants at some point in the last 10 generations” and “Melting pot” etc etc, haha the way I describe it sounds like special snowflake syndrome, that’s not what I mean at all, but rather, I’ve been accustomed to the de-emphasis on America having any unique culture at all. My mom regularly cooks about 10 different countries’ native cuisines, most of which are not part of our nationality. I’ve been to quinceneras and bahmitzvahs and portuguese feast and polish family reunion (and I can’t spell any of it!) and I guess my point is, seeing “American Style” in another country makes me really confused about what is American style. When I think of American Culture, I only think of all the BAD things people from other countries typically say about us.
That diner looks like something from the 1950′s. I’ve seen a few that are themed like that as a gimmic to attract customers, but in case it wasn’t clear, that’s not the norm. today in most diners! Too bad because the jukeboxes and cool decor are really awesome…

Sorry if this comment is too off topic to this blog, please delete it :D

    • Haha that certainly is a long comment Tori! It’s funny because many Australians feel that way too about this country. I think it’s probably very different from the perspective of someone who doesn’t come from our country though. As advertised Misty’s is a 1960′s American style diner, it’s main theme is Kitsche and older Rockabilly styles which is (as most of the world sees it any way) an American phenomenon. As someone who has been involved with the rockabilly scene here I do understand that America is no longer like that XD Though you might be surprised that there is are a whole lot of people who do subscribe to that way of life. I describe things like chili cheese dogs and buffalo wings as American because you can’t get them here and they are the things my partner (who grew up in Texas) misses the most. I in no way meant for it to be insulting at all :) Seeing “American culture” as it exists from the outside world is clearly very different than from the inside. I think every country faces stereotypes, I mean I certainly don’t ride a kangaroo as a mode of transport nor do I have crocodiles or speak with a lazy drawl XD Hope that clarifies a little, very sorry if you found it offensive! ^_^

What is it with guys and buffalo wings? My hubby is obsessed with them haha!

  18. Look all I can say is YUM! :D And love the Devil shadow XD Funny!
