Cedel Dry Shampoo Review
Nov 11, 2010 by Violet
Dry shampoo is kind of a foreign concept for me. I tend to use talcum powder on my fringe/roots if they’re dirty between washes because it’s cheap, it works well and it smells lovely (mine is scented like roses). I thought this would be quite fun to try when I got it in my MBBE bags :D

| So the idea is that when your hair is dirty between washes and you don’t have time to wash it…Spray this in…

Leave it for a couple of minutes… brush it out… and enjoy clean hair!

Spraying it in was very chilly so I think it would be quite nice in Summer! It felt like powder once it was in and then after brushing out it did make a difference. I liked that the smell wasn’t over powering but unfortunately it wasn’t overly nice either.
The feeling after brushing was definitely an improvement but not really what I wold call clean either.
The price online is around $6 which is more expensive than talcum powder but I think it would be totally worth it from a convenience point of view to keep at work or to take with you traveling overseas. So far I’ve gotten 4 uses our of it and I think I’ve used around 1/4 of it (roughly judging by how full it feels).

VERDICT: Good for traveling, does it’s job but definitely not a replacement for washing your hair! DO WANT (but probably only if I was traveling) |
Oh my, never heard of dry shampoo before~ but can i use it on my brunette hair? will i end up looking like I have grey hairs? =(

There is a brunette one you can get! I am dying to try it! My hair gets greasy super quick now that it’s short.

Thanks so much for the link Clara! I knew I’d seen it somewhere before XD
I’m pretty sure there are brunette versions, you’re supposed to brush it all out anyway so hopefully no grey hairs XD
ive never used a dry shampoo and prob wouldnt. i wash my hair 4 times a week so doubt i’d need it xx

I probably wouldn’t use it at home either since I have a good routine but for travel where hair washing isn’t so much of an option I would definitely take on in my bag!
dry shampoos have ALWAYS been a mystery to me! Thanks for the review… I might give it a try… one day :D
Me too! It was definitely interesting to try out!
I detest dry shampoos. I have tried them a couple of times, but they just seem to fill my hair with static electricity, so when I’ve brushed it out I look like the Bride of Frankenstein. I’ve then had to wrestle my hair into a bun, which defeats the purpose of getting it clean anyway.
I haven’t tried that brand though, so I can’t really judge it specifically. I used the Klorane version, with disastrous results.

XD I am so picturing you as Bride of Frankenstein! I had the opposite, rather than being big and static-ish mine was more thick and a little heavy. Still I would rather just wash my hair I think unless that’s not an available option XD
Hmmm… interesting concept. Wonder if it would work for dark haired peoples like me?

If you check up the comments there’s a brunette version :D I imagine it would be good after a long day of being at the hospital!
I’ve tried dry shampoo a few times, only because I can’t use talcum powder because my hair is dark. However, instead of brushing it out (because I find it leaves my hair frizzy and ruins my curls) I just shake it out vigorously with my hands. You don’t really need to brush it through, as the point of the powder is to soak up the oil. So once it soaks up the yucky stuff over a few minutes, just shake it out!
But it does always take the natural shine out of your hair (leaving it kind of lustreless), and always leaves my hair a little lighter…
I definitely think it’s not the perfect solution but good in a pinch! I’ll have to try shaking next time, thanks for the tip :D
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with dry shampoo… my hair’s really fine and gets greasy stupidly quickly so I always have a bottle to hand in case my hair needs a quick boost before I head out. However, even though my hair isn’t that darkly coloured I still end up with patches of grey that I usually don’t notice because they’re on the back of my head! Haha.

XD That sounds like something I would do!
I have a can of dry shampoo I use when I fly to Sydney or Melbourne for work! I never have the time when I fly over for the weekend for work to wash, dry & straighten my hair & the dry shampoo just seems to boost the longivety of my ‘clean’ hair. So yes, I agree that it’s good when you are traveling!

That’s exactly what I was thinking! :D
I always wanted to try a dry shampoo thing!
I’m gonna buy this one by ‘Swarfskopf’ that I saw in the drugstore~
Ooo let me know how it goes!
I find dry shampoo so useful! The summer in Japan is really hot, so my hair gets gross really quickly (especially my fringe)between washes. It’s a real life-saver!
I find my fringe gets dirty the quickest too! *_*
I wonder if that would be good for brushing into set hair (as sometimes my set lasts longer than my hair stays clean). Thanks for the review – I’ve never tried dry shampoo before, either.

Oh that’s a great idea actually, it might make the hair a little heavier though which might mess with the set. Definitely something to try out though!
Rose scented talcum powder sounds amazing!
It’s a life saver and only $2 a bottle~
Dry shampoo usually takes around a month of use before your hair adjusts to finding its natural balance again since commercial shampoos have thrown it out of whack. So your hair will feel a bit dirty or greasy for the first few weeks, but if you keep it up your hair will naturally be healthier!
If you are scared of really going no-poo though, then I agree that this is nice for travel and emergencies :)

I don’t think I would do this dry shampoo full time from a cost point of view, so much more expensive than regular! I think because this one is designed to be more of a boost than a proper shampoo I don’t know if it would work minus another regular shampoo. I’m definitely interested in checking out other dry shampoos but I think I would be too scared of having bad hair for a few weeks while it adjusted XD
