Artwork- Progressing
Jul 9, 2010 by Violet
Earlier in the week when I posted my latest artwork you guys enjoyed it so I thought today I would show you some of the work in progress shots of those ones and a few more so you can see how they were made ^_^
This one started out as a random drawing until James suggested it would look cool as a tattoo, lots of shading ensued!

| The finished piece:

Then I had a brief idea to do a whole series of circus themed drawings but only got through one before I was bored of the idea…

By far your favorite was the girl caught in the wind, this is how she started out:

Then I penned the outline…

Then shadows and texture…

Copic markers and we’re all finished ^_^

I hope you enjoyed the very brief look into my studio! It’s been such a long week I’m about ready for a nap and a Bueno! |
lovely and nice drawings :)
Thank you so much ^_^
i love the cage skirt ive been looking for one for ages :p
Oh you should try making one, I’ve seen some really awesome diy’s online with them :D
Your artwork is really lovely. My favourite is the circus themed one :)
Thank you so much Cel!
Ooh, the circus one is indeed very adorable, but I think my favorite is the winter one. I love the puffing cloud ^^ Very lovely, I’d just love to draw like you. Do you draw digitally? I’ve been wanting a graphic tablet, but I’m not sure which one would be the best to get. Anyway, thanks for posting the behind-the-scenes drawing of the wind-blown girl! :D
Haha thank you! I do draw digitally a lot, I have a Wacom graphics tablet which I just love to death. I’m not sure what model it is but I might post a review up if you’re interested. They are quite hard to use in the beginning but after a little practice they are awesome and totally worth the $!
Oh my, these are all so lovely too!! I especially like the little winter one, it just looks so happy and cozy <3 And it would indeed make a great himegyaru tattoo! It's as girly as I can imagine a tattoo can get anyways ^o^
Haha yes tattoos aren’t really hime but this would sure be pretty!
It IS really interesting seeing the creative process! I’ve drawn with pencil but never used markers – it’s amazing to see how much life is brought to the illustration with the shading and colour.
I just discovered Sketchfu yesterday – you should put some drawings on there too, there’s kawaii and dolly kei sections. Anyways, great stuff!
Oh you should totally try Copic markers, they are ridiculously expensive here in Aus but they are so worth it for the depth of colour you get. Before them I always coloured with inks so I think I’m just used to over-saturated pictures XD Oh I haven’t seen sketchfu, off to check it now!
Beautiful drawings! :D
I always end up doing that. I say I’ll do a whole series of themed pictures but I end up getting bored/lazy after finishing one ._. Either that or I can’t seem to get anything else that I like right :(
Haha we are very similar in personality I think XD
wow. looks so great
Thank you Role!
Such cute drawings, I don’t have any Copic markers but I’d love to get some! I have a feeling it would be difficult to completely shade one area without pigment overlapping (does that make sense? xD).
Copic markers can be quite hard to use at first, it takes quite a bit of practice to be able to do it without lines. Because it’s alcohol based you kind of have a couple of seconds to blend the colours together. They kind of automatically spread together… it’s hard to explain >_< Very fun to play with though
