The Long Trip to Melbourne…

Jun 20, 2010 by

First off you’ve probably guessed that there is no Sneaker Sunday today, it’s all about Melbourne…

That’s because Valerie is off jetsetting around New York and after all of the ideas you suggested last week I decided to take this week off and bring you something much more informative next week ^_^

Secondly I just want to give a shout out to the girl that recognized me in Melbourne Central yesterday, you absolutely made my day :D It’s so weird to have people recognizing me on the street but it is very fun so I hope if any of you see me out you’ll come and say hello and take a photo or something!

Thirdly SuperKawaiiMama and Fashion Hayley were lovely enough to let me leech off their internet so I could upload all the photos of our journey down from Brisbane to Melbourne via Sydney ^_^

I’ll try not to bore you with all the landscape photos, James hadn’t been on such a long drive before in Australia so he was very interested in the landscape… It all looked the same to me!

  1. I’m so glad you made the move okay!

And I know how you feel with the Tetris too! We moved last weekend (blog post coming!) and fit it all in one truck! Although we had no electricity for four days :S

Glad to hear from you again :)

    • Thanks Diana! No electricity?? Omg that is much worse than having no internet!! That’s insane! It’s good to be back, I can’t wait to get back properly with the net at home!

  2. Sabrina

Longest Road trip for me was tiny. From Hobart to Launceston and back again.

    • XD Hahaha does that count as a road trip? I tell you what, after this trip I don’t think I want to be stuck in a car for a looooong loooooooong time!

  3. Ooh Love the pictures. Glad you arrived okay! Haha tetris skills always come in handy in real life :D

    • Haha video games are definitely useful in real life situations XD Glad you enjoyed the post!

  4. What a great run-down!! And it was SOOO lovely to meet you!!! I had a great time, and only regret I couldn’t stay for longer. Next time though!!

    • It was so awesome to meet you too! I wasn’t able to stay for long either which sucked :( Next time we’ll have to do a big awesome meet up and I promise to be on time hahaha!

  5. So glad to read a post from you! I’ve not been getting my VLB fix and the internet is just a teensy bit less colourful without you! LOVE the Violettown pic – and the big prawn and banana – I dog those cheesy things too :) (Oh, and think Jimmy looks just fine with his

Fingers crossed you get internettage soon – and will be seeing you within the week – whee!!!

  6. That is a LOOOOONG trip! But Australia seem beautiful, pretty green landscapes and cows, hihi (: I REALLY want to go to Australia sometime. I have a friend who just spendt nince months in Australia with some of her friends and she had the time of her life!
Melbourne sounds like a nice place and I hope you will like it there :D Violet Town is a very nice name for a town, hihi :)
    Have a lovely sunday!

    • Oh it really was a long trip *_* Oh you should come visit Australia! It’s really lovely if you come to one of the major cities! I am really loving Melbourne so far, it is just like home now! Heehee I want to go back to Violet Town now! I hope you have a good Sunday too :D

  7. Ellie

    Welcome to Melbourne-town!

  8. Those are some mad tetris skills, right now I’ve only managed to master Freezer-tetris, I have the tiniest fridge and freezer so it requires some very clever skills. My fiancee want’s to write a short list on the 10 most disgusting public toilets of Australia. On our recent trip to Adelaide we both encountered some… amazingly vile toilets.

    • Oh freezer tetris is high on my priorities now, we only have a bar fridge with a tiny freezer so it’s all about prioritizing XD Oh I don’t even want to think about Adelaide’s icky toilets! It’s making me want to never use a toilet outside my own home again!

So glad to hear you are safe and sound in Melbourne. I loved your road trip photo’s and captions. My longest road trip was California to Florida and back !!!!

    • Oh that sounds like a fun road trip! I’m glad you liked the post too, it was really fun to write!

  10. Moving is fun because even if you have some bad times, it makes lots of great memories! I think I found the most disgusting toilet in Oregon (I won’t go in to details either, but yuck!) when we moved this past summer (that’s summer in the US, heehee) from Central California to Northern Idaho…it was a loooooong trip with a dog and rat! Northern California is rice paddies, rice paddies, rice paddies and Oregon is small towns and the never-ending Columbia River. Then you finally get to Washington, the Evergreen State, after two full days of driving, and you’re greeted with lots of dry yucky land, and eventually fields and fields of wheat! Thank goodness where we live in Idaho was a welcome sight: lots of pine trees and hills!

    • Moving can definitely be fun and I am loving the new house but I sure don’t want to do it again in a while!! Your trip sounds like it was super long but fun! I can’t imagine doing the drive with pets in the car too though, it sounds like much more fun as long as they don’t get car sick! I wish I lived somewhere with pine trees, they are so pretty!

  11. meaghan

    Gald you made it safely!!
Melbourne is an awesome place :)

  12. Awesome! You did it! Wow, that is a long trip though

    • Ooooooh it sure was a long trip!! So glad to be here now though! Just need the stupid internet sorted and we’ll all be happy!

  13. Jin

Wow that’s a long trip. You really packed all those stuff in your car! Wow I am terrible at packing. I maybe moving sometime next year. Not looking forward to packing hehe. I’m glad you have settled in well in Melbourne. I really love the Melb, esp the variety of shops!

    • Yep I packed all of that in… plus all of our clothes which was like 8 space bags worth XD I am awesome at packing! Melbourne is really lovely, we’re having such a great time here and I’m so glad that we actually made the move!

  14. VIOLET TOWN!!!! OMG that is one of the best travel shots I’ve seen. Damn I need to find a Mitsu town LOL D:

Yet again lovely pics and I can’t credit James to them, I guess photo skills run in the household. YAY for giant things. I love giant sign things too ♥

    • I KNOW RIGHT!?! I feel like I should write to them and demand a key to the city XD Aww you are too kind about my dodgy photography!

  15. Squeeee! I’m originally from Benalla, which is right next to Violet Town. I used to drive up there once a month with my parents to their produce market. Hahaha! Gald it was a good trip.

  16. Jenny

haha i was the girl that saw you at melbourne central! that was so cool seeing you there ;D

    • OMG! Hi Jenny! It was very lovely to meet you, you really did make my day! Thanks so much for commenting :D and big <3 to you!

  17. u look purely natural sweet without make up :)

  18. Welcome to Melbourne. Hope you are settling well!

My longest road trip would have to be last summer when my boyfriend, his friend, and I took a 5 hour car ride up into the mountains and camped at a camp-site for the whole weekend. I couldn’t help drive (I have no driver’s license), so I was crammed into the backseat with our stuff.

    • I couldn’t help drive as I don’t have a license either *_* Being cramped into the car is a horrible feeling >_<

  20. I’m glad you had a safe journey! Violet Town looks really cute hehe, it’s so cool :)
The longest road trip I’ve ever been on was 25 hours, from the UK to Austria. It was a coach trip with the school which was ok as several of my friends were there too. And of course we didn’t have to worry about driving so yay ^_^

    • Oh that sounds like a fun trip with all of your friends, though 25 hours does seem like a very long drive *_* Thank you for commenting!

  21. I lived in AUS for a while. I’ve actually eaten at that Prawn…

    xxx

  22. Estelle

Enjoy the Big Prawn while it lasts, it’s getting demolished in the near future. Now Ballina will have nothing :-(
