About Violet
Violet. Frills, lace, pearls and video games. Sometimes Hime Gyaru. Loves rain, hates summer. Workaholic multi-tasking champion. Likes a good cup of tea, hates to run out of Buenos. Wants a puppy, is a house cat. Currently living in Melbourne, Australia.
I mentioned last time that I wanted to try different colours… especially violet! E-CircleLens.netwere lovely enough to send me some :D I was so excited for them to arrive! This was the cute package that came!
Whenever you purchase they send a travel contact case, last time I got one shaped like a puppy and this time I got this one:
How cute is that? I think it’s very Anna Sui inspired :D
These are a light violet colour with yellow flecks in around the center. They are 14mm diameter.
Because these ones are quite transparent I found they didn’t make a strong colour over the top of my green eyes but the effect was really pretty anyway. One lens in the left eye, nothing on the right:
Because I naturally have yellow around the pupil of my eye they really bring that out too :D With them both in:
Comfort-wise I thought they were really great, I’ve been wearing them quite a bit for the whole day and by the end of the day there’s no discomfort. Verdict- These ones are really good for a subtle look, they purple isn’t overpowering and it looks quite natural. Love them!
These ones are a really bright violet with a black outside ring. They are 14.5mm in diameter.
These ones are my favorites out of all the lenses I own now! They are absolutely HUGE! It’s funny because they are only 0.5mm bigger than the Marie pair but they look soooo much bigger because of the black ring. Lens on the right side, none on the left:
I’ve been wearing these ones pretty much non-stop since they arrived because they give such a cool effect. They are dark enough to cover the green in my eyes and because they are this dark I can wear more/darker eye make up without looking washed out. LOVE IT! They really do give a huge dolly style eye, perfect for hime style!
These were the lenses I was wearing the other day in the curly pigtail hair tutorial and there were lots of comments about them! Verdict: LOVE. Super comfortable, pretty, bright and the colour is awesome!
Mwahaha this is my growing lens collection… I think I’m addicted now!
Now the second part of this post! Quite a few of you have been asking questions about caring for your lenses and how to clean them etc. I’m by no means an expert on the subject but after researching and talking to the very helpful staff at E-CircleLens.netI wanted to try answer your questions… so I’ve made a super quick video about it. On anything more complicated than this I though I would suggest you talk to your doctor or optometrist :) Before you do anything I suggest buying a decent sized bottle of lens solution so you can keep everything clean and hygienic. This is the lens solution I’m using in the video:
And here’s the quick video ^_^
So I hope that helped and answered some questions!
Next time I’m going to be doing the hair and make up tutorials you’ve been requesting ^_^ Let me know about your circle lens tips! <
Thanks for leaving a comment, they make my day so I really appreciate it! I answer everything around once a week and all comments will be replied to :) Click to view my comments policy.
you could decorate those containers. Violet has a tutorial on here to decorate her falsies container but you could do the same thing for your contact case! there are some really cute decorated containers out there! You could check flickr or even just google for some ideas ^^
I want blue ones too! I don’t wear contacts normally but the diameter size doesn’t really matter, as far as I understand anyone can wear whatever diameter they like as it just changes the appearance of the size of your eye. The size that might matter is the base curve, which tells you how they will curve around your eyes. Most of these lenses are a fairly standard size so unless you have a particularly odd shaped eye (in which case you should ask an optometrist first anyway!) they will most likely fit ^_^ The contacts I’m wearing here are from http://www.E-CircleLens.net and they cost around US$38. You can get them just plain or with a prescription. Let me know if you have any more questions, I’m happy to help :D
Oh wow I didn’t know this. I come from a family of contact lens wearers and they’re always harping on about curves and fits and how incorrect ones will render me blind, so I assumed it was very important haha. Thanks for the reply :).
Haha contacts if you’re not careful can do damage to your eyes, but if you take care of them well you should be fine! If you’re worried though definitely check with your optometrist! I’m definitely not an expert though so make sure to do your own research and find out if they’re right for you ^_^ Good luck Tiff!
Aww I’m sure people look at your eyes! If you got prescription contacts you probably wouldn’t even need to wear your glasses! If you like them this much you should have a talk to your optometrist about if they are a good option for you :D
Those Candy lenses look a lot like the DollyEyes…and indeed you look VERY doll-like in them!! You’re adorable in that full length shot :) I love mine and wear them all the time! Well, in Singapore and Japan and here when I go out anyway.
The violet lens look really nice on. I’ve never worn any contact lens before. Do you think it will be difficult to apply and remove as I’ve got long finger nails?
Thank you :D I think longer fingernails will make it harder that short ones but I’ve done it before with my falsies on so if you’re used to the nails it shouldn’t be that hard to do. If you do find it hard there are actually little tools you can get that kind of look like training chopsticks (tied together at one end) and rubber pads on the other that are made for girls with super long nails XD
Hi Violet!
Great video! =D yay for Miyavi<3
Actually, according to my eye doctor, you should clean the case and the lenses before and after wearing the lenses. Also, it is recommended to change the case every month or so for circle lenses since they last for a year. This prevents bacteria and other germs to grow in there, which could be very harmful if it gets in your eyes. You've probably heard some cases of korean girls who got partially blind from wearing circle lenses and not taking proper care of them. I use boilable cases so that I don't have to buy a new case every month for all my lenses!^^ They come in a variety of colors and it's also green since you're not throwing away plastic~
Hey Shmoo! Yay for Miyavi! I think there is so much information out there on contact care it’s crazy, every eye doctor seems to have slightly differing opinions about it too *_* Your optometrist definitely has the right idea. I haven’t heard of boilable cases before but I’ll definitely look into it. When you’re dealing with your eyes you can never be too cautious over cleaning or taking care of them ^_^
Love this post! I’ve been on the fence about buying a pair, and these purples ones look so AMAZING on you that I might just try to get myself a pair. I always thought there might be something different to taking care of circle lenses (vs. regular contacts), but your tutorial was really helpful in easing my hesitation with circle lenses.
I might just take the leap, but we’ll see! I’ve also linked this perfectly timed post on my blogroll for the weekend. Thanks!
I’m so glad I could help Pauline! Circle lenses can be so much fun if you know how to use them and take care of them properly :D They are just like normal soft contacts and you can buy them in prescriptions too. Do let me know if you take the leap!
Ive just spent like an hour browsing through your old posts and I have to tell you that you’re the most adorable thing Ive ever laid eyes on! Seriously, you are amazing and i LOVE your blog xxx
Aww! Thank you so much Sarah Hannah, that is so sweet of you to say! I’m really glad that you’re enjoying my blog, if you have any request let me know :D Thank you so much again for reading and I hope you come back soon <3
Hello there ^^ I just found your blog and it is so adorable! I love your hair, especially the gradient effect ^_^ I’m from New Zealand and dye my hair blonde too, but I find it hard to do my roots, I always freak out that my hair will fall out xD The blondest blonde in your hair is a lot lighter than mine, and I was just wondering how you do it and what bleach you use? If there is already a post on this sorry and could you please link me to it?
Thanks! ♥

Hi Marjorie! Oh thank you so much for your lovely comment! And yay for a friend just over the puddle in NZ ^_^ I bleach my hair at home by myself using Loreal prelightener: http://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/img/l10n/products/305×262/HCo18_2.jpg
I’ve tried a whole bunch of different blonde dyes and this is the only thing that I’ve found suited to my hair that can give a consistently nice warm blonde with slightly orange hints. There are a lof of bad reviews out there for the Loreal prelightener but if you actually follow the instructions and keep an eye on your hair while you dye it you can control the colour really well with minimum damage. I’ve been this blonde for almost a year now with *very* minimum damage. I also make sure to use hair treatments too so I can keep my hair nourished etc etc etc.
Hope that helps, if you have any more questions just let me know ^_^
Awww those contacts look really good on you! The second pair is especially fantastic *O* It’s nice to see violet lenses on a real person, because I’ve been thinking about getting some in a similar color. Now I’m convinced that I should XD As soon as I have $70… T_T
:D thank you Kari! I looooove the second ones so much! I’m glad I could help, btw if you don’t want to spend $70, they are only $38 from e-circlelens.net ^_^ Way cheaper and totally cute! Let em know if you get some, I’d love to see them on you!
Hello! Thanks so much for the quick response, you’re so sweet! I’ll definitely have a hunt for that one because I’ve been using a Schwarzkopf one that claims to lighten up to 7 shades but always leaves my hair very brassy and is really harsh!
Thanks a ton! ^_^

No worries at all, I hope you can find something good. If you are using a pre-lightener it might be leaving your hair brassy because you’re supposed to apply another dye in the shade you want over the top of it. I prefer mine with yellow/orange tones to match the fade at the bottom so I don’t bother with that but if you’re looking for something in a specific shade maybe prelighten and the dye over it? Good luck :D
I love your site its super cute. I’m a lolita in the states and i think it’s wonderful that a girl from Australia, has the same interests as me. ok now to comments. i found your video very helpful, even after years of watching my mom put in contacts i still cant figure them out. she has hard contacts. when i asked her for help with my soft ones, she said “i have no clue what to so with those” lol but your video was helpful i think i’ll order the green ones i want and those purple ones too. lol my only suggestion to all the dolls out there is always put your contacts in before you do your make up.
1. if your fingers are dirty from make up resadue it may get in your eye and thats bad.
2. your eves may water when you put the contacts in and mess up your make up.
3. you can put your make up on in the car… i don’t suggest trying to put in contacts in the car. lol
i mostly just added the third one because i like to do things in threes. ^_^. i’ll be following you from now on i think your super cute.
Thanks so much for visiting! I completely agree to put contacts in before make up! I like to put on my false lashes first though as it makes it much easier to grip my eyelid XD I’m really glad you’re enjoying the site and thanks again for commenting!
I wish I’d gotten a cute travel case like that when I got my contact lenses. The one I have looks so…clinical.
you could decorate those containers. Violet has a tutorial on here to decorate her falsies container but you could do the same thing for your contact case! there are some really cute decorated containers out there! You could check flickr or even just google for some ideas ^^
I’m going to be doing a tutorial on decorating contact cases too soon :D
Aww that sucks! Maybe you can deco it, I’ve been planning a tutorial on deco-ing a contact case for a while if you want to wait ^_^
Ah how do you know your size? Do you wear contacts normally or did you get them tested and how much did it cost? (Sorry for so many questions haha)
I really want some soft blue contacts badly!

that container is just lovely! I WANT IT!!!
Haha thank you!
i want some :3
but i wear glasses so no one really notices my eyes :p
they look super cute on u :3

Oh I didn’t even notice but they really do look similar to the DollyEyes Violet ones! :D Thank you! I seriously love these ones they are so awesome!
Oh, and LOVED the Miyavi song!!
Mwahaha yay for Miyavi love!

Anyway…
They look adorable on you! And I think I’ve fallen in love with that contact case!
Love to your blog~
