Outfit Post!

Morning everyone it’s outfit time!
First off I wanted to tell you all about a guest post I did for the blog “All Women Stalk“. They do lists of various things and my list is the 15 Must Have Items for Hime Girls, go check it out :D
But today’s post is mostly an outfit post so let’s get to that now!
Outfit-
Dress- Target
Stockings- Myer
Cardigan- a gift, maybe from Myer?
Shoes- Bodyline… yes I’m wearing them yet again because they are so good for lots of walking. The black shoes in the other pics are oxfords from Payless.
Scarf- Op shop
The story behind these photos is that whenever James wants to try out a new photography technique I get roped in to posing for him so he can practice. This time he was making a tutorial on how to do “dramatic cross lighting with only one strobe”. This is the end result of that:
I always feel like such a wanker posing so seriously though!
Look I am all dramatic because photography is SERIOUS BUZINESS.
This is definitely more my style! We’re back to Popteen rather than Vogue ;)

That’s enough pic-spam for now ^_^ Last thing before I run off to the shops to get some more false nails to decorate… I want to get your opinions on a couple of things about the blog and the direction it’s going in so please take my quick poll! It’s only 3 questions long <3

Hola! In the interests of being informative I am going to give my 2 cents about what you’ve asked in your poll:
Layout isn’t bad, but I’d find it all a bit easier to read it the central section was wider (maybe achievable by having less black space on the sides?).
Video tutorials are fun, but photo ones are easier to follow at your own pace )if you’re a nuff nuff and need to keep checking things like me hehe)

Thank you so much for your comment, it’s so much easier with proper feedback like this :D I completely agree with you about the middle section layout, it’s been something that’s irritated me since I started blogging at this domain. I kind of cobbled this layout together because this was my first time using CSS and since then I’ve learned so much and now I just keep noticing little things that niggle at me like that. I definitely see what you mean about photos vs videos too. Thank you so much for taking time to comment, I really appreciate it! <3

about the blog.. .. I haven’t done the poll cos I’m on my iPhone but I’ll mention these things. 1. iPhone comparability would be cool. There’s a wordpress plugin 4 that which I use & it’s not too bad. No crazy css coding required!
2. I agree about the width of the blog. Most peeps have higher res screens now & u can go wider. Leaves more space for big pics. I lobe big photos – bandwidth be damned!!
And 3. The black background is hard to read. It might just be me but Im not a huge fan of reverse text in almost all applications except headers. That’s the packaging geek in me haha!! I notice lots of art bloggers use black backgrounds too & it puts me off reading – especially if combined with small pics!!

1. It’s funny you mention that, I’ve been searching for a decent phone compatibility plug in for weeks now! What is the plugin that you use called? It’s been bugging me for a while and as I’m an iPhone junky like you, I feel your pain ;)
2. Width is definitely going to be wider. Maybe double. I have a 17inch Macbook pro so it always looks tiny on my screen. Bring on the gigantic photos and bandwidth be damned indeed!
3. Point completely taken. To be honest at the beginning the black background was a choice made because I had a crap camera and my pictures looked brighter on the black. Now James takes all my photos I think it’s going to be turfed too! I actually have a layout idea that I’d like opinions on before I go to all the effort of coding… I’m going to send you an email!

The iphone plugin is called WPTouch Iphone Theme – It’s probably not perfect as I don’t know what you have in mind for it..eg it doesn’t show your header and you can only choose your text colours etc. But it works without any glitches and makes your blog easier to read on the iphone so thats all I want from it :-)
Yay for getting rid of the black – I can understand about why you used it! Can’t wait to see what you have in mind for the new layout!
Oh no nt offended at all, I seriously can’t stand people who actually *ask* for critiques then can’t take constructive answers! Ah awesome I’ll go check out that plug in, it’s funny actually, the second I replied to your comment a friend updated her blog saying she was using it! I worked on it a heap last night and I think I’ve sorted out most of the CSS so I’m hoping updated layout done by Monday :D

Me too! I think half of my closet is from Target :D I am super lucky to have James, I used to the the auto timer thing and it was so hard to get a good shot >_<

– To elaborate, it’s not actually that I don’t like it, but I think I just have trouble reading light text on black backgrounds ^.^;; I think any other dark color background is actually okay, just black for some reason doesn’t work with my eyes :-P But other than that, I think the layout’s really cute and easy to navigate!

Polka dots! I love Polka dots! I swear they’re magical! They bring beauty where things are bland and peace to the world haha. Did you tie your own scarf bow though? My favourite magazine is Vivi and they’ve had cute how to tie your own bow tutes for the past three months, but every time I do it the scarf just falls off my head because it’s too smooth! So odd…
Heehee polka dots definitely have a magic about them! Yep I tied my own scarf bow, Vivi is a great magazine! I found that to get it to stay on I had to bobby pin it to the top of my head and make sure it was quite tight. It took me a few tried to get it right but I think it’s worth it! Also the scarf that I used was thin silk which was much easier than the really shiny silky ones… if that makes sense XD

I love polka dots, I have 2 dresses, a blouse a skirt and 3 scarves with polka dots all over them.

Except I hate that your hair is flat. ;-; You looks so much nicer with your little bouffant. HAHAHA. Call me fickle, but I like the styles you do a lot! O_O Seeing it down was sort of a disappointment, though it’s still very pretty and casual.
Aww thanks ! I love hime style hair too… but I can’t wear it every single day or else it would be pretty boring! I like to wear my hair in lots of different ways depending on the outfit, I don’t think it would have worked with this outfit because the scarf bow needs enough hair on the sides to cover most of the part around the head or else it looks very 60′s hippy-ish ^_^ Thanks for your comment!
